I do want an instrument to be beautiful, but if it doesn't excel as an instrument, it doesn't meet the most basic requirement. If it sounds fantastic, but is too difficult to play or explodes from the relentless pressure of the strings, no one will be able to enjoy it. The balance of these 3 characteristics defines the challenge of building superior instruments."
